The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is mandated as the global hub for renewable energy cooperation and information exchange by over 149 Member states and the European Union. Roughly 30 additional countries are in the accession process and actively engaged. IRENA supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, and serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, a centre of excellence, and a repository of policy, technology, resource and financial knowledge on renewable energy. The Assembly is IRENA’s ultimate decision-making authority and is made up of one representative from each member. It convenes annually to discuss and decide upon issues such as the work programme, the budget, the adoption of reports, applications for membership and potential amendments to the Agency’s activities.
